These 0.5” diameter chrome steel balls are Grade 5, the best quality that can be purchased in quantity. The balls are round to 125 nm with a surface finish of 1.25 nm rms, effectively diffraction limited convex mirrors with a radius of curvature of 6.35 mm ± 125 nm and a reflectivity of about 65%. These balls are ideal for use with the PSM for transferring mechanical locations of optical conjugates to the optics themselves to less than 1 μm.
